Steve Feinberg's Address to the World Filmmaking Community

"We are very pleased by the tremendous amount of filmmaking activity we've had here in our beautiful Ocean State these past three years. This is a direct result of the visionary Motion Picture Tax Incentive program initiated by Rhode Island's General Assembly, which was ultimately signed into law by the Governor. Clearly, this was a historic event as Rhode Island was the first New England State to enact film and television incentive legislation, and soon after, our neighboring states followed our lead.

With Showtime's 'Brotherhood' series, Walt Disney's 'Underdog' and 'Dan In Real Life,' along with Focus Features' 'Evening' and Spyglass Entertainment's '27 Dresses', Rhode Island's local talent and crewbase have risen to the ocassion and provided A plus service to these studio productions. In addition, we've had a tremendous flow of independent feature films as well. Each of these projects adds to the diverse fabric of fiction coming out of Rhode Island.

Finally, as the smallest state in the nation, Rhode Island has the unique ability to offer a wide variety of locations in very close proximity. Time is money when dealing with film production and, in our Ocean State, a film company's production move requires no time at all.

It's a win-win for filmmakers and a win-win for our special State, so make your movies in Rhode Island and we will welcome you to our neighborhood!"
