RI Film receives the Viola M. Marshall Audience Choice Award
"The Strange Case of Marie France" now touts 3 film awards

(Providence/Wickford, Rhode Island, USA) The 11th Annual Rhode Island International Film Festival has named "The Strange Case of Marie France" to receive the Viola M. Marshall Audience Choice Award for first place in the short film catagory out of 320 films screened during their recent festival.

The award is named for the late Viola M. Marshall a founding member of the Flickers Arts Collaborative which created and produces the Rhode Island International Film festival (RIIFF). Mrs. Marshall was known as an accomplished artist, active supporter of the arts and a member of the Newport Preservation Society and Newport Historical Society.

The 14 minute film was written by filmmaker Vin Fraioli and directed by award winning German cinematographer Till Neumann. It has already received the Newport International Film Festival Audience Award for best short film, and 2nd place for "Best Film" in the Providence Film Festival division of RIIFF. The film has made the first cut at numerous international festivals around the United States, including Palm Beach, Newport Beach, Cannes, Woods Hole, Long Island International Film Exposition, the Killington Vermont Film Festival's Short Film Competition, Rome Georgia, and more.

Co-produced by Real Estate broker Frank S. Miele, Adam McClelland and Vin Fraioli, "The Strange Case of Marie France" features noted New York actor Robert Cucuzza opposite Dr. Mari Dias of Johnson & Wales University who plays the wife. Other actors include Laurie Lajoie, Vin Fraioli, Frank Miele, Alex Fraioli, Dennis Bouchard and Juliana Fraioli. Editing was done by Salvatore Interlandi of New York City.

The film is about a man named Robert Berger who is an obsessive compulsive with cleaning, order, and creating beauty in his museum-like home. When his children return from college, and his careful order turns into chaos, a provocative savior appears. Or does she?

"I feel like a boy who's had three christmases in one day," Filmmaker Vin Fraioli said during an interview. "We made a film of enduring quality and it's wonderful to be recognized by the festivals and industry peers including Mike Corrente who said we made "a very clever and haunting film" and that the viewer is "in the hands of a gifted artist.”

Fraioli, who resides in North Kingstown, Rhode Island is now looking forward to making his first full length featured film, "A touch of Ginger" and is working on the script.

Dr. Mari Dias, also from North Kingstown is Director of the North Kingstown Creative Drama Program, Director of the North Kingstown Senior Center "Acting Up, Acting Out" theater program, Co-Chair of the Johnson & Wales University Theatre Program, and Assistant Professor at Johnson & Wales University School of Arts and Sciences.
